Human-Computer Interaction, or HCI for short, is a multidisciplinary field that studies how people interact with technology, and designs ways to improve that interaction. HCI incorporates numerous disciplines, including Computer Science, Psychology, Cognitive Science, and Sociology.
At Williams College, the CS376 course provides an introduction to Human-computer interaction, through a user-centered approach to designing and evaluating interactive systems. In this course, I learned to ideate and propose design problems, studied existing systems and challenges, explored design opportunities and tradeoffs, as well as evaluated and improved designs.
